Now I am no fashion expert and I have never claimed to be however that doesn’t mean that I haven’t got an interest in fashion or clothes. My style has always been practical and comfortable over what is the latest fashion but now that I’m a busy mum to 2 girls, that is even more the case! I have been told on many occasions that I dress about 10 years older than I am and I have never been one for the latest trends. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t like clothes and I don’t like to shop and now that Lottie is 1, I can start to focus on myself a little bit more and start the transition to Spring!

Simply Be Blog Post

I have always shopped on the high street with River Island being one of my favourite stores (especially for handbags!). I have obviously heard of Simply Be and in fact we have a store right in the middle of Nottingham City Centre, but I have never shopped in there due to thinking that they only do really big sizes. I am a size 14/16 now I have had 2 children, but I would have never thought to look in there for clothes.

About 6 months ago, after years of not being able to buy knee-high boots to fit my thighs properly, I found out that Simple Be do custom fit boots. After measuring my calf’s and feet following their simple guides, I was able to buy the perfect sized boots for me! So, when Simply Be got in touch to see if I would like to have a look at their Spring collection, I was excited to discover what they had for me!

Transition to Spring

Simply Be have got the perfect outfits to transition between winter to spring and I was able to try out some of their best pieces. I decided to go a bit out of my comfort zone and picked a lovely faux leather biker jacket (something I would never pick myself!), a floral check long sleeved shirt dress, and a pair of dark grey slouch zip boots. You know you have found a great outfit when it will not only last a long-time without going out of fashion but also be worn in lots of different ways!

The reason behind my choices is that the 3 items can all be worn during the winter months with a scarf and leggings and then also during the spring months with tights or even bare legs. The pieces are all interchangeable as the biker jacket will dress up jeans and heels nicely or equally look great with a denim skirt and white pumps. They are all essential, key pieces that form the basis of a wardrobe.

The shirt dress can be worn in the day on a trip into town with flat boots or glammed up in the evening with some patent heels or knee-high boots. The colour is lovely as I tend to stick to black or dark colours so it’s nice to have something a bit different. The added floral check design means I can add a feminine touch to the rest of the outfit. It also features a waist-tie however I defined my waist by tying it at the back as I’m not a huge fan of drawing attention to my widest point (hips!).

The slouch zip boots are perfect for me as I can wear them both with skirts and jeans (which I live in!). Ankle boots can pretty much be worn through any season with tucked in jeans, leggings or socks. I need a flat boots/shoes for everyday wear as Lottie is still crawling and gets under our feet!

Dark grey slouch ankle boots with double zip

I wore the shirt dress and biker jacket on a recent night out with Mario and felt amazing! The shirt dress is so comfortable and easy to wear. It’s the perfect length for me as it reaches my knees and covers the top of my legs which I’m not a big fan of. The biker jacket is soft so again really comfortable to wear and great for a night out to throw on and off in bars and restaurants. I wore heeled boots of my own and felt really confident all night in my outfit which for anyone like me, is a major plus!

I will be wearing all 3 pieces together over the weekend when I’m taking my gran out for lunch with my sister so I’m looking forward to feeling fab again! This outfit is certainly my favourite at the moment, and I know I’m not only looking fashionable, but it will also take me all the way through to the summer (if we get one!). I would definitely recommend taking a look at Simply Be’s latest spring collection and updating your wardrobe with some key fashion pieces! I look forward to seeing what else they have in store soon!
