I was recently approached by Anitas Candles to try out some of their hand poured, 100% natural soy wax candles. As a household that goes through a lot of candles due to Mario’s obsession with them, I was really interested in having a look at these to see how they differ to our everyday candles at home.

Anitas Candles is a family run company, created in 2015, making 100% natural soy wax candles. Each candle is hand poured and made to order so you know you are getting something really special! I don’t know too much about candle wax if I’m perfectly honest, however Anitas candles are made from soy wax which has unique properties such as; a lower melting temperature, longer burning time, and production of a beautiful phenomenon called ‘frosting’ which is a tiny crystal growth on the top or sides of the wax itself. We were lucky enough to be sent 3 of their candles to try out; Vanilla, Champagne and Pomelo, and Lemongrass and Ginger.

I love it when you open a new candle to get an instant hit of fragrance and Anitas Candles did not disappoint! Each candle is housed in a lovely glass jar and comes in either travel sized or a choice of 2 large-sized. They also personalise candles for special occasions. The candles have lovingly designed labels which detail exactly what fragrance they are. As soon as I took the top off the Vanilla candle, I instantly smelt the beautiful Madagascan Vanilla fragrance with a tiny hint of Nutmeg. This was the candle I was most interested in as sometimes vanilla can be really overpowering in a room, however the fragrance is delicate and not overpowering at all. Once lit, the candle lets off a very subtle fragrance but doesn’t fill the room too much, which I find off-putting in other candles. The Lemongrass and Ginger candle could be overpowering in a small room, however the fragrance is again subtle and you hardly notice it which is great! My favourite out of the 3 has to be the Pink Champagne and Pomelo candle. Its fragrance is sweet and really makes the room smell lovely! We used all 3 candles in different rooms and used them for different things; such as relaxing watching TV, in the bath, and when going to sleep. They were perfect!

All of the candles burnt clean and they all felt and smelt more expensive than they actually cost. The label designs on each candle are distinctive and eye-catching which again adds to the expensive feel of the candles themselves. The candles all burnt evenly with no big dips in the middle where the wick is, which is always a pain when you are halfway through a candle and can’t re-light it easily! The soy wax is bio-degradable and eco-friendly which is a major plus factor, as well as them being longer lasting.

The candles come in a range of sizes and burn for different lengths of time. The travel candles are £4 each and burn for around 10-12 hours, the large candles come in 2 sizes and burn for either 35 hours (£12) or 45 hours (£14). Finally, the candles can also be personalised which is a lovely touch and they are £18 for 45 hours burn time. Delivery is £3.99 and can take 5-7 days to arrive as each candle is hand poured and made to order. For the quality and the fragrances themselves, I would have no issue in paying these amounts for the candles! They are long-lasting, burn for more than the average candle and smell divine! So head over to Anitas Candles and see what you’re missing!
