If like me you are an avid watcher of the TV show Dragons Den, you will no doubt have seen the successful pitch made by the guys over at Lostmy.name. Lovingly created by 4 friends, the Lost My Name personalised storybook for kids is a funny, interesting, and imaginative book for children aged 2-6 years. I have had my eye on this book for Mia for a while and actually had not long popped it on Mia’s Christmas Gift List for this year, when I was given the exciting opportunity to review the book for myself.

When the book arrived Mia was really excited when she realised it was another ‘present’ for her (what child doesn’t love presents!) and she quickly flicked through the pages looking at all the pictures straight away. After her initial excitement, I finally got her to sit down and listen to me read her the story.

Lost My Name

If you’re not familiar with the premise, it’s an involving story about a boy/girl (depending on your child!) who wakes up one day to find their name has disappeared during the night. The child goes off on a magical adventure to find their name again and as the book progresses; they come across mythical and magical creatures who in turn give them the letters that make up the child’s name. The child puts the letters together at the end and finds that they have in fact found their name again!

Personalised Book

Each page is eye-catching, with beautifully designed characters that hold your child’s attention throughout. The story is written in a rhyme so although I found the story quite long for a 2-year-old, it was still able to hold Mia’s attention well. Mia absolutely loved the pictures and was completely enchanted by the whole story. At the end she told me it was ‘so exciting!’ with a massive smile on her face!

Personalised Books

The book is fully personalised to your child. You can create your own book on the website LostMyName on which you can choose a child, and choose between characters for each letter of your child’s name, for example, Mia’s story contained a Mermaid, Imp, and Aardvark. You can see a preview of your child’s book before you purchase it. Currently the book retails at £19.99 with free postage which I personally think is a great price for such a unique, personalised gift.  Also, don’t worry if your child’s name is short like Mia’s, extra pages are added to the story so you don’t miss out!

Mia holding her book

This is a great present for Christmas and birthdays and I couldn’t recommend it more. I have been looking at this book for a while and it did not disappoint! All in all, we loved it! It’s great for adults to read at bedtime and it’s a beautifully illustrated book for children. It will certainly last a while in our house and I doubt Mia will get bored with reading it as she gets older! Joanna Victoria has also written about some stunning personalised children’s books so make sure you head over there too!

Love this idea! Of course, I love books, but I also have a daughter whose name is in nothing! She would have loved it when she was little. Thank you for sharing your great review! #KCACOLS

Aww yes Mia struggles with finding her name in things although her name is becoming more popular so it is perfect for when you don’t have a ‘common’ name! 🙂

We also have this book – it’s beautifully illustrated isn’t it and I really love the quality of the paper it’s been printed on. My boy’s love reading theirs! #KCACOLS

Thanks for sharing this, Becca. My daughters are older now but it makes a lovely gift for our younger nieces and nephews. I didn’t see their pitch on Dragon’s Den but it is a great idea, and looking at the lovely illustrations and fonts used, brilliantly executed.

I will certainly bare it in mind.
