I have been interested in working out for quite a few years now and was an avid Zumba Dance go-er before I had Mia, doing up to 3 classes a week however once I had Mia I found it increasingly difficult to find the time and energy to get to the classes so I ended up having to stop going as I simply couldn’t keep up. I love working out and I’m always on the lookout for new classes to do so when Flex got in touch to see if I was interested in trying out their online classes designed specifically for busy mums to take part in, I was up for the challenge!

Flex is a small start-up who are trying to help make mums lives easier by changing and giving them more workout options. Flex gives busy mums the motivational and community aspects of a real life gym class but from the comfort of their own home and completed in their own time. I, like most other mums, have very limited time so I need workouts that not only fit in with my schedule but are also quick and effective enough for me to feel like I have done an hour in the gym without actually having to drive there, get changed, workout, shower, get changed again, and drive home! Mia goes to Preschool 4 mornings a week and I have to fit in food shopping, working on my blog and fitting in a workout within each 2 hour slot! That is where Flex comes in!

Flex is an online workout platform with plenty of workouts ranging from Pilates to HIIT. You can workout from as little as 10 minutes to 60 minutes and classes start at various times throughout the day so you can either jump into a workout that’s already started or there will be another similar class starting very soon afterwards! Each workout has the title, date, time left until the class begins (or time elapsed since it started), and the duration of the workout so you know exactly what you are doing. This makes life simple as straight away I can see all the information I need to decide if the workout is for me or not!

Each class is broadcast live and pre-recorded so you can take part when you can and how you can. The class also has the option to socialise with the other participants via an online chat so you can work out with others and feel like your all involved in it together. The classes themselves are really easy to follow, the variations of the exercises are explained as you go along so you can choose which level is right for you. I have so far done a HIIT workout and 2 Pilate’s classes which have been great so far!

It’s not always completely clear which classes are for beginners and which are more complex but you could change workouts midway through or vary the exercises so it’s not too much of a problem. An email is sent out after each workout you have completed with what’s recommended for you based on your past workout and more workouts with the same trainer if you enjoyed it so that’s really useful and you can schedule all of your upcoming classes in advance so you know what workouts you are doing when. At the moment, the calendar doesn’t seem to record what workouts you have completed which would be nice to see how you were progressing and which workouts you have already done over the course of a week or month.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how I get on over the next 3 months and Flex have just offered me a part of their new 8 week 1-to-1 personal coaching programme so I’m really looking forward to seeing how that goes! So check back in a few months to see how I get on!

This looks such a good idea. I would like to get fitter this year and really need to find a painless, easy way to fit it all round the other things I’ve got on. Good luck 🙂

This seems to be a good accessories in exercising. It’s a shame I can’t find a time to do some fitness at the moment but in the future I might try. Thanks for sharing xx #triedtested

It is really tricky to find time isn’t it! These online workouts are great for that as I can do them whenever I can fit them in! 🙂
